BIOGRAPHY
Born in the Republic of San Marino (Italy), he moved to Milan in 1986 where he started to collaborate at Industria/Superstudio, assisting international photographers of fashion and portrait (Fabrizio Ferri, Pino Guidolotti, Herb Ritts, Bert Stern, etc).
In 1987, he moved to New York, where he spent 11 years publishing his work of fashion (slideshow), reportage and portrait (photos) for magazines such as: Time, Newsweek, Allure, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, GQ, Marie Claire, Jane, Maxim, Mademoiselle (U.S.A.), Vogue Italia, Elle, Grazia, Amica, Io Donna, L’Uomo Vogue (ITALY), Spiegel (GERMANY), Arena (ENGLAND), The Outlook Magazine (CHINA). Advertising and catalogues for: Amsale Designer Campaign, Avon, Nordstrom, Stuart Weitzman Shoes, Seiko Eye Wear, JCrew, Rasà Record, Vincent Longo, Momix Dance Group, A.G.A. (U.S.A.), Ragazze Ornamentali, L’Oreal, SPA Water (FRANCE), Leo Pizzo, Melting Pot (ITALY).
Since 2001, he has been based in San Marino where he continues to work throughout the world in exhibitions, books, personal and commissioned projets related to reportage, fine art photography, film documentaries and music videos.
“When I look through my camera’s viewfinder, I immerse myself completely in that dark, rectangular space - a silent space that is all mine, a space from where I choose.
It is an act that involves not only my eye and my mind, but my entire being.
My past, my fears, my emotions, the decisions I have made - all involve me and impel me to take a broader and deeper perspective.
In full awareness of who I am, of my limits and priorities and of what surrounds me, I sense the changes and the curiosity within me that lead me in search of different lights and new stories.
And so I go on losing myself, finding myself and losing myself again in unfamiliar territory, exploring the image in all its diverse forms and manifold possibilities - for specializing in a genre would mean ceasing to grow and stifling my passion.
I am on a quest for my ultimate, my final picture.
That’s what I hope to find… or maybe not.”

- January 2007 - First official presentation of the documentary “Graças a deus” at the Dogana Theatre in the Republic of San Marino. The italian Senator and Journalist Sergio Zavoli, takes part with a comment to the work.
- June 2007 - Official selection of the documentary “Graças a deus” to the 25th Bellaria Film Festival - Italy directed by Fabrizio Grosoli.
- August 2007 - Presentation of the documentary to the people of Muqui in Brazil. During this trip Davide Montecchi shot “RETORNO A MUQUI”.
1997 - In collaboration with the french artist Bruno Hadjadj, he created a video-installation for a show about a three-dimensional free interpretation of the paint “Las Meninas” by Velasques, for the Gallery “123 Watt Street” in New York.
1991 - Director of “A NEW YEAR IN SAN MARINO”for the television of San Marino, a documentary-video about the Palio of the Balestrieri (medieval game).

BIOGRAFIA
Nasce nella Repubblica di San Marino, si sposta a Milano nel 1986 dove inizia a collaborare con Industria/Superstudio, assistendo fotografi internazionali di moda e ritratto (Fabrizio Ferri, Pino Guidolotti, Herb Ritts, Bert Stern, ecc.).
Nel 1987 si trasferisce a New York, dove resterà per 11 anni, collaborando e pubblicando servizi fotografici di moda (slideshow), reportage giornalistici e ritratti (foto) per riviste come: Time, Newsweek, Allure, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, GQ, Marie Claire, Jane, Maxim, Mademoiselle (U.S.A.), Vogue Italia, Elle, Grazia, Amica, Io Donna, L’Uomo Vogue (ITALY), Spiegel (GERMANIA), Arena (INGHILTERRA), The Outlook Magazine (CINA). Dal 2001 risiede a San Marino e continua a lavorare in tutto il mondo in esposizioni per gallerie, progetti personali e commissionati riguardanti reportage, fotografia d’arte, film documentari e video musicali.
“Quando guardo attraverso il mirino oculare, mi immergo completamente in quello spazio rettangolare, buio, silenzioso, mio.
Da lì scelgo.
Non solo l’occhio e la mente complici nell’atto, ma tutto me stesso.
La mia storia, le mie paure, le emozioni, le scelte prese… tutto mi coinvolge per cercare di salire ed avere una più ampia e profonda prospettiva.
Nella conoscenza di me stesso, dei miei limiti, delle priorità e di ciò che mi circonda, divento consapevole dei cambiamenti che mi portano a cercare nuove storie e luci, della mia curiosità.
Perdermi, ritrovarmi e riperdemi in terreni sconosciuti utilizzando l’immagine in tutte le sue forme: se mi specializzassi in un genere, soffocherei la passione.
